     Hours Flexible, 8 – 16 hours per week to be agreed in advance. 6 months term (option of extending).

  • About Plaza Latina

Carnaval del Pueblo has been promoting Latin-American culture for over 25-years, at its peak reaching 200,000 festival visitors in Burgess Park. Latin Hub’s mission is to promote heritage and solidarity among the Latin-American community by organising events, training and facilitating partnerships. We work in Southwark and aim to reach the most disadvantaged by offering free services and access to cultural events.

PLAZA LATINA is a joint venture between both organisations. It manages a multi-use space enabling traders and artists to join forces, collaborate and reach new customers to earn a living while promoting our cultural heritage.

 
  • Main Duties

 
  • Do you have a passion for social justice and a knack for storytelling? Are you a creative go-getter ? If so, we want to hear from you!

Ideally you come from a comms background and get social media but essentially you are willing to learn to be able to work independently.

  • Attend and capture engaging multimedia content at our events, and transform raw footage into compelling narratives that resonate with
  • our audience, for example adding captions and legends to videos.
  • Craft creative and strategic content for all our social media channels, ensuring it aligns with our brand voice, values, and goals.
  • Design eye-catching branded templates with pre-made graphics to streamline social media publishing.
  • Develop innovative strategies to boost brand awareness, increase event attendance, and analyse website and social media metrics.
  • Support small traders and artists in developing their own sales growth tactics such as referral programmes and loyalty discounts.
  • Write engaging copy for our website and social media posts.
  • Build promotional partnerships with like-minded organisations, utilising tools like Google Alerts, social media management
  • platforms, and CRM software.
  • Assist with PR inquiries, information requests, and event preparation.
  • Conduct research on industry trends and identify potential media opportunities
 
  • Skills and Experience Required

 
  • About you
  • You’re currently pursuing a degree in Communications, or a related field. (Bonus points if you’re already a graduate!)
  • You have a deep connection to Latin American heritage or a strong interest in the culture. Fluency or a high level of Spanish is a plus.
  • You possess a keen eye for design and a natural ability to think visually.
  • You have social media experience across various platforms.
  • You’re flexible, detail-oriented, and have a contagious enthusiasm for learning.
  • Skills
  • Experienced in Canva Pro for visual design or willing to learn
  • Experienced in video editing or willing to learn
  • Experienced in zoho CRM – Marketing Automation or willing to learn
  • Experienced in WordPress – Divi website builder or willing to learn
  • Experienced in Google Analytics and Social Media management tools or willing to learn
